Year 5 went on a trip to study the River Thames on Tuesday this week. It was run by the Thames Explorer Trust (www.thames-explorer.org.uk) and held at Fulham Palace. They learnt about how the role of the Thames has changed over time and the impact that people and pollution have had on it. In the afternoon they did lots of foreshore fieldwork, including identifying invertebrates living in the river, testing the pH of the water and collecting artefacts, some dating back to the Victorian times. It was a hugely enjoyable day out and they all learnt a great deal.
