This term’s Year 3-6 Chess Tournament proved very popular. Sixteen players were paired in four hard-fought rounds and great determination was shown by all. Congratulations to Sammy (Year 3) who played Matthew (Year 5) in the final of the main tournament and won on points. The match could have gone either way right to the nail-biting end. In the runners-up competition, Abraham was paired in the final against Kai, with Kai just winning by a bishop and a pawn. Well done to all the players and Mr Viv for organising it.

This is the first official in-school tournament we have held at PGP and it was heavily over-subscribed. Owing to popular demand, we will be holding more competitions in the future. We will also be extending invitations to other schools with existing chess clubs in the hope that they will come and play us.
