Year 5 explore the Thames

Posted: 22nd February 2022

Year 5 went on an awesome trip run by the Thames Explorer Trust. We explored the shore of the river Thames and looked for animals to prove the river was not as polluted as we all initially thought it was. In fact, we found out that it is the cleanest urban river in the world. When exploring down at the river’s edge we found shrimp, which indicated the Thames is a healthy river. We also learnt that the Thames is a tidal river and so the moon controls the tide, meaning the tide goes in and out twice a day. We absolutely loved our trip and acquired lots of knowledge. You could explore the edge of the river Thames at the weekend with your family. We would highly recommend it but make sure you wear wellies.
