I feel extremely privileged to be the Head of this wonderful school. While our reputation rests on outstanding teaching and superb pastoral care, we are equally strong in art, music, sport, technology and drama. Our children enjoy a range and depth of opportunity to match any of our competitors.
There is a sense of pride and purpose throughout the school and the staff and children clearly love everything that goes on within. While our ambitions are large, we are a small enough school for everyone to know each other and to celebrate each other’s achievements. It is this atmosphere and core values that make the school such an exceptional place in which to work and study.
Our education, with its strong emphasis on English, maths and science, is enhanced by our STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts and Maths) programme; it encourages children to explore the practical uses of these subjects and the links between them. Our Creative Learning programme promotes in our children a passion for exploring the humanities curriculum, unrestrained by traditional subject boundaries. Preparation for the 11+ is thorough and inclusive; we provide all parents and their children with the prerequisites to ensure a smooth transition to a senior school of their choice.
Our extra-curricular offering is wide. We have an activity programme encompassing everything from mindfulness to ballet, LAMDA to Lego and yoga to baking. The creative arts are a vital part of what we offer and children have plentiful opportunities to perform in public. This may be by taking a role in a major concert, play or debate, or else delivering a match report, reciting a poem or playing an instrument in assembly. Self-confidence and poise are encouraged wherever.
We aim to equip our children not only with academic and extra-curricular skills, but also with the qualities of character for their lives beyond school. We want them to thrive in the rapidly changing, complex world of today; they will need to be adaptable, resilient and resourceful, able to demonstrate inquisitiveness, self-confidence and independence of thought. These attributes are as important as academic ones and they are a key part of the education we offer.
Underpinning everything is our clear moral framework. We seek to develop individuals who not only understand their good fortune in attending a school such as this, but who embrace and promote in everything they do the traditional values of kindness, good manners and respect for others.
Building on the success of the ISI’s 2022 inspection, in which the school received the top judgement of ‘Excellent’, our May 2025 ISI Inspection Report is available here. We are delighted to confirm that the school meets all the ISSR Standards consistently, which includes the overarching responsibility to actively promote the wellbeing of pupils.
ISI inspectors can identify an area of a school as a ‘significant strength’. To achieve a significant strength, a school must demonstrate that an area of provision shows a deep understanding of, and aspiration for, pupils’ development of knowledge, skills, and understanding, and a very clear and highly beneficial impact for the pupils. It is with huge pride that we share the exceptional news of our significant strength:
“Leaders prioritise pupils’ wellbeing in all aspects of the school’s provision. They implement an exceptionally ambitious wellbeing and mental health programme which supports pupils’ deep understanding of emotional wellbeing very effectively. As a result, pupils have a secure and very mature understanding of how to regulate their own emotions, while also recognising and supporting the emotional wellbeing of others. This is a significant strength of the school.”
The breadth and depth of references in the report to other areas of effective provision, together with the school’s broader successes, including the school’s best ever 11+ results to selective senior schools, are testament to the school’s commitment to ensure that every child at Parsons Green Prep flourishes academically and pastorally. All inspections provide very helpful next step recommendations. We look forward to taking these steps and continuing our ongoing enhancement of the school’s educational provision.
I would be delighted to meet you and show you what makes Parsons Green Prep such an exceptional school.
