I feel very privileged to be the Principal of this wonderful school. While our reputation rests on outstanding teaching and superb pastoral care, we are equally strong in art, music, sport, technology and drama. Our children enjoy a range and depth of opportunity to match any of our competitors.
There is a sense of pride and purpose throughout the school and the staff and children clearly love everything that goes on within. While our ambitions are large, we are a small enough school for everyone to know each other and to celebrate each other’s achievements. It is this atmosphere that makes the school such an exceptional place in which to work and study.
Our education, with its strong emphasis on English, maths and science, is enhanced by our STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts and Maths) programme; it encourages children to explore the practical uses of these subjects and the links between them. Our Creative Learning programme encourages our children to explore humanities topics unrestrained by traditional subject boundaries.
Our extra-curricular offering is wide. We have an activity programme encompassing everything from mindfulness to ballet, from yoga to baking. The creative arts are a vital part of what we offer and children have plentiful opportunities to perform in public. This may be by taking a role in a major concert, play or debate, or else delivering a match report, reciting a poem or playing an instrument in assembly. Self-confidence and poise are encouraged wherever.
We aim to equip our children not only with academic and extra-curricular skills, but also with the qualities of character for their lives beyond school. We want them to thrive in the rapidly changing, complex world of today; they will need to be adaptable, resilient and resourceful, able to demonstrate inquisitiveness, self-confidence and independence of thought. These attributes are as important as academic ones and they are a key part of the education we offer.
Underpinning everything is our clear moral framework. We seek to develop individuals who not only understand their good fortune in attending a school such as this, but who embrace and promote in everything they do the traditional values of kindness, good manners and respect for others.
PGP received top ratings from the ISC (Independent Schools Council) in its recent survey about performance during lockdown. PGP parents taking part returned 82% of positive comments and the school achieved an overall score of 90% for our response to the Covid-19 crisis.
I would be delighted to meet you and show you what makes Parsons Green Prep such an exceptional place.
