Admissions Process:
How Does the EYFS (Reception) Admission Process Work?
At Parsons Green Prep (PGP) we are passionate about ensuring the school is the perfect fit for your child. Our admissions process is gentle, involving a 45-minute Play Date in Reception and a short nursery report, to ascertain if an offer of a place at PGP is in your child’s best interests.
We welcome children into our Reception class in September after their fourth birthday. The PGP registration form can be found below. A year prior to entry we will invite your child to a Play Date in school. It simply gives us the opportunity to meet your child and for them to get to know PGP. No preparation is required. If your child cannot attend one of these sessions, we will arrange an alternative session or we may visit them at nursery. Prior to making an offer, we will contact the nursery for a general report on your child’s progress. The school takes great care to make new children feel at home quickly and they are invited on two occasions during June to meet their new teachers and class friends in the classroom. Parents will have the opportunity to meet other new parents as well as current parents and will also be invited to an introduction evening.

What Are the Admissions Steps for Years 1–6?
Parents are welcome to register their children to join us from Year 1 and upwards by joining the school waiting list. You will need to complete PGP’s registration form and provide us with your child’s most recent school report; we may also take up a reference from their current school. When a place becomes available, we will invite your child into school for a taster day. We aim to ensure that your child has the very best transition between their current school and PGP. If an offer is made and accepted, new pupils are invited to a ‘meet the teacher’ session in order to meet their teacher and class friends, thus starting the induction process.
Attendance
It is statutory for the school to maintain morning and afternoon registers of attendance for all pupils, including for the children in our early years Reception class. The codes for absences can be found in Appendix 1 of the Admissions Policy.
