In Book Detectives, the children work as part of a ‘book group’. Each group is set a section of a book. They can also complete an individual role all about the week’s reading, such as Discussion Director or Vocabulary Picker. These roles shape the discussion of the club, leading to in-depth analysis of reading. It is a great way to take reading comprehension further, with the children really ‘digging around’ in the meaning of texts and the intentions of authors. So if your child loves reading and likes to talk about what they have read, Book Detectives is the club for them!

New for September 2026 – wraparound care
Parsons Green Prep (PGP) is delighted to introduce our new wraparound care provision, developed in response to the growing needs of our school community. We recognise that modern family life often requires flexibility and that many parents balance busy working schedules alongside school commitments.
Our aim is to provide a safe, nurturing and enriching environment beyond the standard school day, offering both support for parents and a positive, engaging experience for all of our pupils from Reception to Year 6.
There is Morning Care from 8-8.30am (Mon-Fri), providing a gentle and positive start to the day, and a Focus Club (homework/structured tasks) followed by a Chill Club (games and socialising) in the afternoons from 3 until 6pm (Mon-Thurs).
