This is a lunchtime club for our Year 1 and Year 2 pupils to take their first steps as part of a performing choir. Members are introduced to a range of musical genres from traditional songs, rhymes, Disney films and even world music. We play music games to develop an understanding of the essential musical elements of pitch, rhythm and melody. Children are also encouraged to sing solos, giving them the opportunity to build experience and confidence performing in front of others. Towards the end of the year, we begin to give more performances. Starting small, the children perform in front of their classes and they soon progress to performing in front of the school. Finally they perform for the parents. As well as preparing the children for the Chamber Choir, Choir club is a fun and informal way for the children to learn new skills, meet new friends and increase their confidence and creativity.
