Last week this Parsons Green Prep child, an ISA STEAM competition finalist, presented her gas-propelled rocket to the ISA panel of judges. She spoke eloquently about her design, the challenges she faced and how she solved each problem. It was very impressive to hear her discuss the chemical reaction between the vinegar (an acid) and the bicarbonate of soda (an alkali) and how carbon dioxide was produced as a result, allowing the pressure to build and finally propel the rocket into the air. We are pleased to say that the judges were also fantastically impressed with her knowledge, enthusiasm, problem-solving and presentation skills and she was awarded first place in the KS2 category. Congratulations – this is a fantastic achievement.
