Parsons Green Prep Celebrates a Significant Strength: Pupils’ Emotional Wellbeing
It was with great pleasure that I shared the report from the Independent Schools Inspectorate last term with the school community, following PGP’s routine inspection in May 2025. Being able to confirm that the school unequivocally meets all the Independent School Regulatory Standards and has been awarded a ‘significant strength’ is a tremendous achievement and one to be celebrated.
A significant strength is rarely awarded and recognises an area of a school’s provision that has a very clear and highly beneficial impact on pupils. For our school, it is especially meaningful that this recognition was given for our approach to supporting pupils’ emotional wellbeing. The report states:
“Leaders prioritise pupils’ wellbeing in all aspects of the school’s provision. They implement an exceptionally ambitious wellbeing and mental health programme which supports pupils’ deep understanding of emotional wellbeing very effectively. As a result, pupils have a secure and very mature understanding of how to regulate their own emotions, while also recognising and supporting the emotional wellbeing of others.”
Building on the outstanding evaluation by the local authority in the Autumn term, it is also affirming to read ISI’s positive assessment of PGP’s Early Years provision. Our youngest children in Reception enjoy a fabulous start to their education. The report highlights the commitment of leaders who invest heavily in developing children’s language and communication skills, consistently modelling kind conversations and supportive actions. This leads to children learning to play kindly, share happily and work collaboratively.
Unsurprisingly, the report also references the positive interactions I witness daily between children across all year groups – interactions that are underpinned by our core value of respect.
We are excited to address the next-step recommendations to further enhance our educational provision and I look forward to sharing these developments in the next academic year. The strengths and broader successes recognised by the inspection team, the leadership’s commitment to consistently meeting the Standards and this year’s best-ever 11+ results to selective senior schools are all a testament to our pupils’ hard work and the school’s unwavering dedication to ensuring that every child flourishes.
I would like to thank parents and the entire school community for your continued and deeply valued support and encouragement. The photo is of our wonderful Wellbeing Committee.
